Many of the questions asked are same, so the FAQ page is designed to answer the basic questions that keep being asked. Our 72 x 45 inch mats (currently) have their hexes running the length, as apposed to running across the width. With our half-size and quarter-size mats, you have the choice of how you want the hexes to run. If you want to purchase half-size and quarter-size mats, please check this page: Mat Facts. How do you measure a hex? Please check the diagram found on the HOME page (example shows a 5 inch hex, and how you measure a hex size). Can you make me a 7ft x 11ft mat? Our felt comes in 6ft widths, so the maximum size is going to be 6ft wide. We can make virtually any length, but... we can only print hex/square grids up to 72 x 45 inches. We can print our star and rock scatter pattern up to 8-ft in length (these would be the Mars Red, Desert Brown and the Deep Space game mats), but anything larger than 72 x 45 inches will not come with hexes/squares. Hex and Square Sizes: What Sizes of Hexes and Squares do we current produce? At this time we can print hexes in the following sizes: 1, 1.5, 1.75, 2, 3, 4 and 5 inch sizes; we can print the following square sizes: 1, 2 and 4 inch sizes. Adding Hex/Square Grids to the Western Town Mats: How much would it cost to add a hex or square grid to the 72 x 45 inch Western Town mat? Adding a hex or square grid to a 72 x 45 inches mat increases the price by $15 USD. This makes the 72 x 45 inch Western Town mat $45.99 USD. Double Sided Mats: What is a double-sided mat? A double-sided mats are mats with either hexes/squares, artwork, or both, on both sides of a mat. What isn't a double-sided mat? If you need a Sea Blue, Desert Brown or Earth Green game mat with a hex or square grid on one side, but blank (no hexes/squares) on the reverse side, then this is a "single-sided" game mat. How do I order a double-sided mat? The best way to order a double-sided mat is to send us an email request for a PayPal invoice. How much does a double-sided mat cost? The cost varies from mat to mat. To look up the price of a double mat: Click Here Can I order a Deep Space or a European Fields double-sided game mat? Yes. These are both commonly requested game mats. For pricing of double-sided game mats, you should look at this page: Double-Sided Mats. You can order a double-sided Deep Space game mat with the reverse side with just stars/nebula, or with stars/nebula and hexes or squares. You can order a double-sided European Fields game mat with just the field pattern, or with with the field pattern and hexes or squares. We do not charge a custom fee for these game mats. Can I have a European Fields game mat with hexes/squares and the other side with the field pattern but without hexes or squares? Yes. Yes. This mat costs $15 USD extra, and is listed on the Double-Sided mat chart Click Here Can I have a Sea Blue mat with a Deep Space mat on the other side? No. The color of the felt dictates the color on both sides of the felt mat. If you want two different colored mat sides, you must order two different mats. However, you can have a mat with European Fields on one side and Earth Green or Sea Green on the other, since these three game mats use the same green felt. Can I have a double-sided Snow Field game mat? No. White felt is the one felt color that does not work double-sided. The reverse side will always show through -- you won't like the results (trust us here, we have tried this and it really doesn't work). How long does it take to make double-sided mat vs a regular mat? Because it is double-sided, and because we have to wait a while for the inks/paint to dry before we can start work on the other side, double mats do generally take longer to produce. Some double-sided mats are fairly quick to produce, while others can take much longer -- it is all a question of drying time (we did install heaters and fans in our drying room so drying time has been reduced) and coordinating all customer order together. Sea Green Game Mats: What is a Sea Green game mat? A Sea Green game mat is an Earth Green game mat that has been airbrushed blue and has white sea waves added. The mat is a fairly common request from customers. The price of a Sea Green game mat without a hex or square grid is: $43.99 USD, and with a hex and/or a square grid this game mat is $48.99 USD. This mat is often made on the reverse side of a European Fields game mat or on the reverse side of an Earth Green game mat (with hexes/squares). There is an additional charge of $20 to add a Sea Green game mat to the reverse side of a game mat, or $25 to add both Sea Green and a hex/square grid to the reverse side of a game mat. A D-Day Beach game mat is a game mat that depicts a sea and beach area and is usually used for D-Day style beach assault games. The water area is airbrushed blue and has white sea waves added. This mat is a fairly common request from customers. The price of a Sea Green game mat without a hex or square grid is: $44.99 USD, and with a hex and/or a square grid this game mat is $49.99 USD. This mat can be made on the reverse side of a European Fields, Sea Green, Earth Green, or a Green Planet game mat. If you require your game mat to have a D-Day Beach on the reverse side, please ask for a price quote (to add a D-Day Beach without hexes/squares on the reverse side of a game mat, for a 45x72 inch game mat, the price is an additional $25 ($30 if the D-day Beach has hexes/squares) to the cost of the base mat (example: An Earth Green game mat costs $35.99 USD, and having a D-Day Beach (without hexes/squares) added to the reverse side would cost an additional $25 for a total of: $60.99 USD). Different Hex/Square Grid Colors?: Can I order a game mat with different hex or square colors? In theory, yes. We have had customers order Desert Brown game mats with White hexes, or Earth Green and Mars Red game mats with black hexes (as apposed to subdued hexes). If you have a special need, just ask. All we may say is no 6x4-ft Game Mats: 6x4-ft Game Mats At present, we can make 6x4-ft (72 x 48 inch) game mats providing the game mats do not have hexes/squares. This is considered a custom game mat and may have an additional $5 fee. However, the Western Town game mat can be requested as a 6x4-ft (72 x 48 inch) game mat at no extra charge. Please ask us before purchasing if you are in doubt or are confused about purchasing 6x4-ft (72 x 48 inch) game mats. Standard Game Mats We Produce The standard game mat we produce with: 72 x 45 inches (6x3-ft 9-inches); the double-size game mat measures: 72 x 90 inches (6x7-ft 6-inches); half-size: 34 x 45 inches; and quarter size: 22 x 34. How do I pay for a 6x4ft game mat? There will be a $5 additional fee, so we would send you a PayPal invoice, or you can pay via an International Money Order (or via check: US and Canadian customers only). Enhanced Deep Space Game Mats: What is an Enhanced Deep Space game mat? An Enhanced Deep Space game mat is essentially a Deep Space game mat with more artwork applied to the game mat's surface. These mats take longer to produce, have more airbrushed paint/artwork and have more detailing added. Having one of these game mats is like playing your games on an enlarged NASA photo: bright colors, detailed nebula with many subtle and not so subtle airbrushed colors. The Enhanced Deep Space game mat costs $15.00 more than a regular Deep Space game mat, for a 45x72 inch game mat; enhanced half-mats cost $10.00 USD extra. For a game mat without hexes/squares, you may have the size increased to 48 inches wide from our standard 45 inches for an additional $5.00 USD fee. When ordering an enhanced Deep Space game mat, email us with a request for a PayPal invoice. For more information: Click Here Enhanced European Fields game mat? An Enhanced European Fields game mat is a European Fields game mat with a lot more artwork applied to the game mat's surface. These game mats show hedges/tree lines that usually line the edge of European Fields/Pastures. These mats take longer to produce, have more airbrushed paint/artwork and have more detailing added. These game mats are handcrafted pieces of artwork. For more information: Click Here Gladiator Arena Game Mats We produce two different arena styles in two different sizes on three colored felts (Sea Blue, Sand Grey and Sand Brown). With our Red Sand Blue Sky arena game mats, we also produce a Deluxe and Standard version. All the gladiator mats are also available with or without grids. At this time, the RSBS game mats are only available with square grids (as shown in examples on this website) or without square grids. If you want your gladiator arena game mat to be on a different colored felt than what we supply, just ask us and we will see what can be done. Double-sided Gladiator Arena Game Mats? Yes, we made several double-sided Gladiator Arena game mats for customers. These are usually a regular Gladiator game mat on one side, and on the reverse side, the arena is printed without hexes. This is cheaper to order than two arena game mats, and allows the customer to play hex based games or using non-hex based rules systems. Different Hex/Square Grid Colors?: Can I order a game mat with different hex or square colors? In theory, yes. We have had customers order Desert Brown game mats with White hexes, or Earth Green and Mars Red game mats with black hexes (as apposed to subdued hexes). If you have a special need, just ask. All we may say is no Printing Hexes/Squares onto 72 x 90 inch Mats: Can I have hexes or squares printed onto an 72 x 90 inch mat? No. At this time we only can print a hex/square grid onto 72 x 45 inch mats. This may change in the near future, but not right now. However, we can print our Rock Scatter Pattern or Star Pattern onto 72 x 90 inch mats. Shipping the Mats: Can I have a 72 x 45 inch mat shipped rolled to an overseas destination? Yes, but the post office charges a minimum of $100 USD to do this; it is expensive, but you can probably get five 72 x 45 inch mats into the same box for the same rate, so if you can order more mats, or get a few friends to order more mats, this may work out to economically feasible. Can I have a 72 x 90 inches mat shipped rolled up in box? Yes, but we are not sure a 6 foot long box will survive the journey. This is a fairly long, and thin box that is surely going to be bent in the middle during transport -- you would be surprised how much a beating a box goes through, even when transported via FedEX Ground. Custom Mats: What is a custom mat? A custom mat is a customer mat order that requires us to either produce or purchase addition equipment to manufacture the mat. This includes purchasing felt colors that we do not normally stock (only if we have to make a special trip to our supplier to purchase the said felt). Will you make any mat I want? There is only two criteria for custom mats: 1) Is the mat feasible: How much does it cost to make and how long does it take to make. 2) Is the mat feasible on a commercial basis: will other customers want to purchase this mat? (this only applies if the equipment or production costs are high; we need to recoup our costs by selling the mat to other customers). Will the custom mat be my design, so no one else will have the mat? No. We reserve the right to make and sell more of your custom mats as part of our product line. This is how were recoup our costs and stay in business. How long does it take to make my custom mat? It depends. Custom mats usually take longer than regular mats as we try to "fit" the mat into our production schedule. Best to ask us at the time of purchase how long your mat will take to produce, as each mat is different. How do I pay for a custom mat? If we give the green light for your custom mat, and a price has been agreed to... we can send you a PayPal invoice, or you can pay via an International Money Order (or via check: US and Canadian customers only). Bulk Order Discounts (Club Discounts): Do you offer discounts on large orders? Yes: Mat orders totaling between $150 and $300 receive a 10% discount; Mat order totaling over $300 receive a 15% discount. Shipping rates are not discounted. Mats Without Fabric Binder (cheaper mats): Can I get a discount if I order a mat without the Fabric Binder? Yes. If you order a 72 x 45 inch game mat without Fabric Binder, we will either reimburse you $5 USD (via PayPal) on each mat you order without Fabric Binder, or you can request a Paypal invoice and we will make the price, per mat 72 x 45 inch, $5 USD less than the price listed on our website store page. For Half-size mats, we will reimburse $2.50 USD; for quarter-size mats, we will reimburse $1.00 USD Do you recommend me buying a mat without Fabric Binder? It is up to you. Fabric Binder strengthens the game mat's surface to help prevent pilling and snagging. However, our felt supplier has stated to us that their felt is very high quality and is even used on poker tables without problems. We do recommend that you purchase our game mats with Fabric Binder, especially with regards to the Deep Space mat, or any of our mats that have been airbrushed since the binder also protects airbrushed artwork from normal gaming wear. Returning Purchases: Can I return my purchase if I am not satisfied with the product? Yes. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, simply repackage it (folded is fine; if you purchased a rolled game mat, you may ship it back to us folded) and ship it back to us in a sellable condition. We will refund your purchase price plus the cost of having shipped the product to you.
